Working Together

The Whole Person

You are not a list of symptoms to be diagnosed. You are a whole person. That is how I work with you.

Person centred counselling means the focus is entirely on you, your experience, your meaning, your pace. Labels can sometimes be useful, but they are never the full picture of a person. Here, you are the authority on your own inner life. My role is to create the conditions where you feel safe enough to actually explore it.

Whatever has brought you here, your seeking is significant. You are signalling to yourself that the old ways of working are no longer serving you. That old patterns no longer keep you safe. That it's time for an update.

Sessions can draw on a range of tools and approaches depending on what you need. No two sessions look exactly the same. What stays constant is the quality of attention you receive and the pace at which we move.

Whatever has brought you here, your seeking is significant. You are signalling to yourself that the old ways of working are no longer serving you. That old patterns no longer keep you safe. That it's time for an update.

Person Centred Counselling

Come as you are. Bring all of you, the contradictions, the confusion, the parts you don't have words for yet. You'll be met by someone who is genuinely ready to sit with all of it, warmly, without agenda, without rushing you toward an answer you're not ready for.

Person centred counselling means the focus is entirely on you, your experience, your meaning, your pace. Labels can sometimes be useful, but they are never the full picture of a person. Here, you are the authority on your own inner life.

I also work with NDIS funded participants under the counselling line item under Capacity Building - Improved Daily Living. Get in touch to discuss.

Transpersonal Art Therapy

Why Art Therapy?

Here's the thing about creativity. It doesn't live in your to-do list. It doesn't respond to logic or scheduling or waiting until you feel ready. It lives somewhere quieter than that, in the part of you that already knows things before your brain catches up.

Art therapy works because it speaks that language. We're not making you more creative. We're helping you find the door that was always yours, locate the key you've been carrying without knowing it, and walk into a space that has been waiting for you.

Why is transpersonal art therapy neuroaffirming?

Because it is non-diagnostic and person centred. The question we work with is not 'what is wrong with me?' It is 'what is my experience in the world?'

We privilege unconscious material and trust that it carries a message, no matter how long that message takes to reveal itself. We meet you wherever you are on your journey, without pursuing or forcing outcomes. We encourage gentle, paced exploration of how you have been shaped, and who you might choose to become.

We work together in our shared humanity, welcoming the multitudes within you waiting to be discovered, befriended and expressed.

"But what if I can't make art?"

That's not really a question about art.

It's an old program, running in the background, that has been keeping you safe by keeping you small. As long as we stay in the binary of good or bad, talented or not, we shrink ourselves into identities that were handed to us. Usually by people who hadn't yet met themselves, so they couldn't fully meet you.

Children are honest. They are little sponges, ingesting the words, actions and feelings of everyone around them as absolute truth. A sensitive child especially will take those words in and believe them completely, not because they are weak but because they are open. Because they feel everything.

And when those words are careless, or unkind, or simply limited, the child has no language to question them. So instead they conclude: this must be true about me

That conclusion becomes a wound. The wound becomes a story. The story becomes the lens through which everything else gets filtered.

The ego can overidentify with that story, especially when it was written in childhood. It holds it close because at the time, it was the only map available. The ego is like a pinprick in a piece of paper. It only allows us to see the tiniest sliver of who we are.

But you are not that map. And there is so much more terrain than it ever showed you.

What if you suspended that story, just long enough to imagine something different?

How art therapy actually works

It bypasses the part of you that is on guard. The defender. The one who has been protecting you so loyally, for so long, that it sometimes forgets you are safe now. Art sneaks past that guard quietly, without a fight, and allows the unconscious mind to do what it has always wanted to do: send you messages. Offer you gifts.

Those messages come in symbols. Images. Colours. Shapes that surprise you. Marks you didn't plan to make.

They don't always make immediate sense and that's okay. Some messages need to be decoded slowly. Some gifts need to be unwrapped gently. We do that together, at your pace, without forcing meaning before it's ready to arrive.

You don't interpret. You listen. And slowly, the deeper part of you begins to trust that it is finally, actually, being witnessed.

Not analysed. Not fixed. Witnessed. Seen, heard and experienced by yourself, perhaps for the first time, in a way that feels less like a revelation and more like a homecoming. Like something in you exhales and says: there you are.

Still unsure about the art making?

That response makes complete sense and you don't have to push through it alone.

As a trained practitioner I bring a range of art therapy approaches specifically designed to gently ease the pressure that art making can activate, especially for those who were criticised, shut down or told early on that their creativity wasn't welcome.

Therapy is never entirely comfortable. But it is always at your pace, your readiness, your timeline. When something feels too hot to touch, we don't rush it. We sit near it. We get curious about it.

Because here's what I've learned: the things that feel most defended are usually where the gold is.

And that gold is yours. It always was.

The Toolkit — What We Work With

Every session can look completely different. These are tools, not a fixed formula. Brought in when needed, put down when not. Because you are not a fixed formula either.

Active Imagination

Imagination isn't escapism. It's one of the most underused doorways we have. Active imagination involves moving intentionally into the imaginative space, through guided meditation, daydreaming into images, or following a feeling into a scene. Not fantasy. A way of allowing the unconscious to speak in the language it actually uses: image.

Guided Meditation & Mindfulness

Offered as a tool within sessions, not a prescription. Builds the capacity to be present with what is, without being immediately swept away by it.

Art Making & Creative Expression

Marks on a surface. Colour. Shape. Texture. Things made without a plan and then looked at honestly. The hand often knows things the mind is still working out.

How to Get Started

Step 1 — Book a free discovery call (15 minutes)

A chance to meet, ask questions, and see if we're a good fit. Not a therapy session. Just a conversation.

Step 2 — Book your first appointment

First session to establish the therapeutic space, discuss what brings you here, and begin with a creative process.

Step 3 — Continue at your own pace

Weekly or fortnightly sessions. You are always in control of the pace. No pressure to commit long term.

Sessions

Standard Session — 60 minutes

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Transpersonal means "beyond the persona"—beyond the everyday roles and identities that limit how we see ourselves.

In transpersonal art therapy, we explore what's beneath the surface: the unconscious patterns, the parts of you that have been hidden or repressed, the wisdom that can't be accessed through ordinary thinking alone.

We use creative expression, guided meditation, movement, play, poetry, and storytelling to quiet the logical mind and tune into your emotional and intuitive self. This creates space for the unknown to become conscious—for reconnection, insight, and transformation.

  • Not at all. You don't need any artistic skill or experience. The art isn't the point. Expression is. If you feel self-conscious about making art, that's completely normal and something we can work with together. The art is just a vehicle for what surfaces through it.

  • A small selection of whatever feels accessible or interesting to you. An art journal, some mark making tools (pens, pencils, pastels, watercolour), scissors and glue if you'd like to collage. Nothing special required.

  • Fees are listed on my online calendar.

  • Payment is processed within 24 hours of your session via Halaxy. Bank deposit also available. All processing is HIPAA-compliant with bank-grade security and data stored on Australian servers.
