What is Transpersonal Art Therapy?
The word Transpersonal means ‘Beyond the Personal.’
In other words, we explore and expand beyond the ego, that is our conscious knowledge of who we think we are in the world. We privilege the unconscious mind which brings the unknown into conscious awareness. We can access our unconscious mind through engaging creative expression, guided meditation, movement, play, dance, poetry, metaphor, ritual and story. These engagements allows us to turn down our logical ‘thinky’ self and tune into our creative and emotional self. In this way we allow for a rebalancing and centering of self.
As a Transpersonal Art Therapist I will assist clients to create a bridge between their inner and outer world through creativity and mind-body practices. This allows clients to access and draw on their own healing wisdom and build on their inner resources. I believe the client is the expert and the role of the art therapist is to walk beside them as they wander through their inner landscape. We work with symbol, image and metaphor that come through in creative expression to explore potential new openings and meanings. Working in this gentle and creative way allows the client to be empowered to find their own answers, in their own time.

What services do you provide and what are your Fees?
Please wander over to my Services & Fee page for all current services I offer and fees. I currently only offer online sessions, but I will eventually be opening up for in-rooms and outdoor sessions. So let me know if this is something you desire and we can explore in person sessions. And yes I do have some sliding scale spots available for those experiencing financial difficulties.
What to expect during a session?
Good question! Each session will be different for each individual. However, the general structure for an Art Therapy sessions:
- Check-in with how you are doing and discussion on an area or issue you would like to explore.
- Creative exploration/process to help explore and bring forth the presenting issue.
- Unpacking what you have discovered through gentle inquiry and curiosity.
- Reflection on experience and plans for next session and sometimes so in between session homework.
Is there anything I can do to prepare myself for a session?
Sure! For online sessions please check out my resources page for information on art supplies and tips for setting up your creative & therapeutic space. For in-person sessions, whether they be in-rooms or outdoors, please be aware I adhere to COVID safe protocols.
What is your payment and cancellation policy?
I require upfront payment for my sessions and payment is listed in AUD.
I have a 24 hour cancellation policy for all of my services and offerings. For cancellations made under 24 hours notice you will pay the full session fee amount.
How do I book an appointment?
All one-to-one client sessions can be booked through my online calendar here.
Please note I do bookings by request, which means you choose an available time that is open in my calendar and I will confirm the appointment via the calendar app. My response time can be up to 48 hours. You can prompt me to respond by emailing me directly email@example.com.

How often should I book an appointment?
The frequency of scheduling appointments is up to you. You may only require an occasional session to get you back on track or you may want to explore more in depth issues that require weekly/bi-weekly appointments. It is important to note everyone’s healing journey is individual; it does not look the same and does not have a specific time-frame or pace. Also, you are under no obligation to continue with sessions if you do not feel they are serving you. Please be mindful of my cancellation policy in this regard.
